Debate Format

Innovative Exchange

In this format, 20 students come together to debate an important question facing the continent.

Students are invited to the front of the room to speak uninterrupted for 2-3 minutes. Their speeches are followed by 1-2 minutes of questions from other students.

• Students always choose which side of the debate they’re on 

• Laptops, tablets, and cell phones are not allowed during debate 

Parliamentary Debate

In this format, students will sit in a semi-circle to debate a topic assigned to them. They have 20 minutes to discuss the topic, and they are free to ask questions or share opinions. The discussion can go in any direction as long as it is relevant to the topic.

• Students must stay seated in the semi-circle and cannot move around during the debate.

• There is no set order for speaking, and students can jump in and speak whenever they have something to say.

• Students can ask questions of each other and engage in back-and-forth discussion.
